Georgia, Vermont, Ohio Editors Retiring

February 2013

State Employment Law editors in Georgia, Vermont, and Ohio are retiring from their law firms after distinguished careers that included active participation in the Employers Counsel Network. Coeditors were already in place in each state, so the monthly newsletters have stayed on track during the transitions. In Ohio, a new editor is joining the newsletter team.

Georgia

David Hagaman is completing a 25-year tour of duty with Georgia Employment Law Letter as he winds down a successful career at Ford Harrison in Atlanta. In the next phase in his life, he will serve as an arbitrator and mediator and continue teaching law at the University of Georgia.

Almost exactly 25 years ago, Hagaman helped M. Lee Smith start the company’s second Employment Law Letter (Tennessee was the first). “We appreciate Dave’s friendship, support, and commitment to this association during the past quarter-century,” says BLR CEO Dan Oswald, “and we wish him the very best in his new ventures.”

Hagaman leaves Georgia Employment Law Letter in experienced hands. Chris Butler and Raanon Gal will continue as editors:

Vermont

Robert McKearin, longtime editor of Vermont Employment Law Letter, has retired from Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew, P.C., in Burlington. McKearin began writing and editing articles for the newsletter in 1996. He plans to do some biking and running in retirement.

“We’ve enjoyed Bob’s thoughtful analyses and creative writing style,” says BLR Senior News Editor Alan King. “He has done a great job of keeping Vermont employers abreast of the workplace issues and developments they need to know about, and we wish him the best in retirement.”

Dinse Knapp has a team of employment law attorneys who work on the newsletter, including:

More information about each of them is available on the Vermont page on this site or at www.dinse.com.

Ohio

Bradd Siegel, who became coeditor of Ohio Employment Law Letter in 2006, is leaving Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP in Columbus and moving to Savannah, Georgia. He will remain Counsel to the firm. In addition to his newsletter work, Siegel often took part in BLR’s Advanced Employment Issues Symposium for employers and HR pros as well as Master Classes, webinars, and the like. “We very much appreciate Bradd’s involvement with the newsletter and participation in the ECN network over the years,” Oswald said.

Fred G. Pressley, Jr., chairman of Porter Wright’s Labor and Employment department, will continue as coeditor of the Ohio newsletter. Joining him will be Franck Wobst (pronounced “Vobst”), a partner and member of Porter Wright’s Labor and Employment Practice Group:
